The Rev. Dr. Patti Hale began as our Rector in August of 2011. Born and raised in Portland, Oregon she attended the University of Oregon, Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois and Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis, Missouri. Patti was previously ordained 1995 and served congregations in the United Methodist Church. In 2002 she was ordained in the Episcopal Church. She has served congregations in the Diocese of Eastern Oregon, Massachusetts and Oregon. Patti has a particular passion for preaching and a commitment to ministry in small congregations. She has been married since 1990 to the Rev. Doug Hale, also an Episcopal priest. They have one son who is grown. Patti enjoys singing, dancing, kayaking, hiking in the mountains and mountains in general. (Especially Mt. Rainier)
Vestry is the Episcopalians word for the elected group who serve as the parish leadership. Members of the Vestry are responsible for the temporal matters of running the parish as well as setting the direction and focus of the parish ministries in cooperation with the clergy. Vestry meets on the 3rd Wednesdays of every month from 7:00 – 8:30pm. Meetings are always open to visitors. Christine Hartbauer began her ministry of music at St Matthew’s on Ash Wednesday, 2015. She is a highly skilled and versatile pianist and choral director. Chris has a profound and deep faith and understands her ministry as “helping the people of God to make a joyful noise before the Lord”.
